Angel Program

Dear Angels, Past and Present;                                                                                                               

 

The Northland Players will begin their 39^th season by presenting Chicago. Auditions have been held and the show is cast. Rehearsals have begun, the set is being built, props gathered, advertising planned, sponsorships sought and costumes selected and fitted. It is an exciting time for the Northland Players and all the activity is centered in the Theater Center on Backus Street in Cheboygan.  That brings me to the main subject of this letter - our Angel Program.

 

As you know, the Angel Program was established several years ago to provide a firm financial base for maintenance and improvement of the Theater Center and has provided that for numerous projects. The Angel Program along with grants also supports the Children's Theater production which is presented in the spring, which assures the continuation of this important opportunity for young people to learn something of the Theater Arts. This year there were not many grants awarded and the Angel Program was used to help fund Murder Twice Baked. Unfortunately, opportunities for future grants are becoming less and less possible with the state of the economy.

 

The Players appreciate the benefits the Angel Fund has afforded them. Occasionally, the board has found it necessary to borrow from this Fund to support other productions, with the borrowed money being returned. Without the availability of these funds, fewer productions would be possible.

 

 I hope this bit of information will move you to support our Angel Program as you have in the past.  You might want to share with your friends who are interested in live theater by telling them what you are doing for the Northland Players.  They might like to become Angels too, and would receive our newsletter, The Prompter, and appropriate recognition in the programs of our productions of the 2009-2010 Season.

 

When the curtain does go up in November, I hope you will be there in the Cheboygan Opera House, ready to enjoy the show, and feeling proud of the role you have played in Chicago and our future productions this season.
